Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 23, 2026. Explaining exactly which storage technologies VictoriaLake uses and why.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser when you visit. They help websites remember your preferences across sessions. VictoriaLake also uses the browser's localStorage API — a similar technology that stores data locally in your browser without expiry.

2. What We Use

VictoriaLake uses a minimal set of storage technologies:

  • Essential localStorage keys
    • vl_age_ok — records that you have confirmed you are 18+ so we do not show the age gate on every page load. Value: "1". Duration: until you clear browser storage.
    • vl_ck — records your cookie banner choice (accept or decline). Value: "1" (accepted) or "0" (declined). Duration: until you clear browser storage.
  • Anonymous analytics cookies — if you accept cookies, we may set an anonymous session identifier to help us count unique visitors and understand which pages are most popular. This identifier cannot be linked back to any personal information. Duration: session or up to 30 days.
  • Third-party fonts — Google Fonts are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may set its own cookies; please review Google's Privacy Policy. We load fonts with display=swap and rel="preconnect" to minimise latency.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social-media cookies, or any form of cross-site tracking.

3. Essential vs. Optional

Essential storage (vl_age_ok, vl_ck) is necessary for the Site to function correctly. Declining cookies does not remove these from your browser; however, you may clear them manually via your browser settings at any time.

Analytics cookies are optional. If you click "Decline" on the cookie banner, we will not set analytics cookies and will keep your consent preference set to "denied" for the lifetime of your browser storage.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions vary by browser:

Clearing cookies and localStorage will reset your age-gate confirmation and cookie preference — the banners will reappear on your next visit.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we add or remove storage technologies. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
